John McGrane, Head of Commercial & Business Banking at Ulster Bank said they carried out extensive research into the financial needs of start-up companies before putting together this package.

"This package reflects the needs of new businesses today, offering them access to finance without unwieldy fees and charges at a time when every penny needs to be invested in the new enterprise.

A majority of businesses don't require huge capital sums but understandably people aren't always willing to risk personal assets or re-mortgage to start-up their own company. Our package offers easier access to finance at lower rates than any other bank today."

The move to provide start-up customers with transaction fee free banking follows Ulster Bank's introduction of transaction fee free banking for personal customers in January 2006 and is further evidence of a commitment to provide competitive and innovative products for its customers. It's a further step in Ulster Bank's aim to be the number one business bank in Ireland, a position it already holds in Northern Ireland.

The package announced today is available to all start-ups opening an account with Ulster Bank between 16th April 2007 and 30th April 2008. Ulster Bank has 32 dedicated Business Centres across Ireland and customers can also talk to Enterprise Advisers based at Ulster Bank's branches.
