Ulster Bank celebrates 10 years of Anytime Banking
19th July 2010
- £2 billion transactions since Anytime Banking launched in 2000
- Average of 875,000 transactions per week carried out online
- 24/7 access to fast, secure and convenient banking
Ten years since the launch of Ulster Bank’s Anytime Banking, the Bank can reveal that around £2 billion of transactions have been made online in Northern Ireland and around £6 billion across all of Ireland. The number of customers registered for Anytime Banking has grown three fold in the last two years alone.
Ulster Bank was the first bank in Northern Ireland to offer customers the ability to manage their finances over the telephone and online when Anytime Banking was introduced in 2000. The proposition has changed dramatically since the first customer registered 10 years ago.
Online banking services are now firmly established and as developments in technology drive change, Anytime Banking has evolved to support the Bank’s commitment to making banking easy. Most recently this has included the launch of Ulster Bank’s iPhone Mobile Banking Application, the first of its kind in Northern Ireland. The App is designed to bring customers closer to their finances on a 24/7 basis and is an example of the innovative products being launched by the Bank.
As Glynis Hobson, Ulster Bank’s Head of Direct Banking points out, convenience and simplicity are key.
“Our customers have busy lives and there are often not enough hours in the day to get everything done. They want secure access to their finances at a time and in a way that suits them. We are committed to offering customers a choice on how they bank with us.
“New features are regularly added to keep pace with customers changing needs. We recently improved our 24/7 helpdesk with a web chat functionality which means help is always at hand online. Customers can also try the new digital savings goal tool which tracks progress against customer’s savings target.”
Ulster Bank customers have the added comfort of being able to download Rapport, free desktop security software which increases online protection. The software works with the customer’s existing antivirus and firewall software, dramatically reducing the chance of a customer being successfully targeted by fraudsters.
Registering for Anytime Banking is very straightforward Glynis Hobson adds.
“The proposition may have changed dramatically since the first customer registered 10 years ago, but it takes no time to register online or over the phone. It’s not just for the younger generation. We have customers in their seventies, eighties and even nineties using online banking.”
