Calling all entrepreneurs and businesses to enter the Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards
Local companies to battle for Business Achievers Awards 2008
4th Jul 2008
Businesses in Ulster are invited to enter The Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards 2008 in association with the Belfast Telegraph. For the first time in the programme, Ulster companies and entrepreneurs will compete for seven category prizes before going head-to-head with category winners from across the island. Overall category winners will be announced from the provincial finalists at an all-island gala event next year.
The Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards aim to recognise and reward business success, regardless of business offering, service, or location. The programme was launched today at a breakfast event at Ulster Bank headquarters in Belfast.
Entries are now open to both established businesses and entrepreneurs who feel their business has achieved significant success and growth. Provincial finals will be held in November with the overall winners announced in March 2009. Nominations can be made in one or more of the seven categories:
- Environmental / Sustainability Award
- Community / Social Entrepreneurship Award (including Arts and Crafts)
- Ethnic Entrepreneurship Award
- Business Going International Award
- Family Run Business Award
- 'One to Watch' Award
Speaking about the awards programme, Henry Elvin, Ulster Bank's Head of Business Banking, Northern Ireland, said: "SMEs are the lifeblood of the Northern Ireland economy and our purpose in recognising and rewarding their successes is to encourage them to continue on their growth journey and to help inspire others to strive to reach their full potential. Business conditions are difficult, but at times like these its more important than ever to make the most of talent and skill and to create awareness of your achievements and successes. Therefore we are confident that we will see evidence of significant business achievement amongst the contenders and winners of the awards."
The Business Achievers Awards are open to nominations by individuals or businesses at www.businessachieversaward.com. All entries must be submitted by October 31 2008, with judging by awards panels and provincial awards ceremonies taking place in November 2008. Winners from the four events will then compete for the overall category prizes in March 2009.
Companies will be judged on a variety of merits including sales performance, market share growth, company milestones, innovative new products or services and successful achievements by key personnel.
