Specialist manufacturer expands to meet order growth

An increase in orders to supply infrastructure projects throughout the island has led a local company to expand its production capacity via a new facility in county Armagh. Emtek, a specialist provider of bridge parapets, safety barriers and metal products for highway, urban streetscape and industrial safety projects, has moved to new state-of-the-art premises in the Silverwood Industrial Area of Lurgan. The building of the new 1 million premises has been funded by Ulster Bank.
Damian Milligan, Senior Manager at Ulster Bank's Lisburn Business Centre, says: "Emtek has continued to innovate in order to expand and improve its product range and has continually grown its business as a result. The company outgrew its existing premises a few years ago and began the search for a new site for a purpose-built production facility. With the help of Invest Northern Ireland, the company identified the new site in Lurgan and, having worked closely with Emtek for a number of years to support its growth, we provided the package to fund the new build."
"We are confident that the new site, which brings together a number of Emtek depots, will enable increased efficiency and further expansion of the business," Mr Milligan adds.
Emtek Managing Director, Neil McKee, says: "Our aim is to deliver high quality service, an innovative product range and a team of dedicated specialist staff, committed to excellence. We work in partnership with national and local authorities, civil engineers, main contractors, architects and designers involved in the delivery of diverse and challenging projects, ranging from major infrastructure schemes, to bespoke urban regeneration projects, through to industrial building protection contracts. We have seen our business expand significantly in the past five years and with the new premises and added manufacturing capacity we are confident of further growth."
Emtek was founded in 1994 by Eddie McKee and was headquartered until now from commercial premises at Ballinderry, county Antrim. The company, now run by managing director Neil McKee, employs 43 staff across Ireland.
