Henri Hippo makes 21st century comeback!

Richard Donnan, Managing Director of Retail Markets at Ulster Bank Group introduced Cara Low to the Henri Hippo piggy bank.
A children's icon first seen in the early eighties is to make a comeback to help children understand the importance of saving money. Ulster Bank's Henri Hippo, loved by thousands of Northern Ireland children during the eighties and nineties is being re-introduced to encourage and reward saving in the 21st century.
Richard Donnan, Managing Director of Ulster Bank Retail Markets said: "Henri Hippo will be fondly remembered by a generation of adults who were introduced to the concept and habit of saving through a great sense of fun. Many will now have their own children and will be keen to pass on a habit that will have served them well down through the years. We want to help parents encourage and motivate their children to save."
"All good lessons and habits begin early, and saving is a skill that everyone needs. We are fully aware of how important it is for parents to impart money know-how to their children and Henri Hippo is designed to help this process effectively and in a way which children will respond to positively," he says.
"By bringing back Henri Hippo, we hope to get across the message to our younger generation that the earlier you begin saving, the more time your money has to grow. Nowadays, many people do not have a good sense of saving for the long run. And besides being a great way to ensure you have enough money for later in life, saving money when you are young can only help your future."
Henri Hippo's urfirst account attracts a very competitive 4.75% AER and will no doubt invoke recollection in parents, through the memorable Henri Hippo savings box and other merchandise. It's the perfect way to introduce children to the savings habit, combining fun with an important message. The Account can be opened with as little as 5 / 5 in any of Ulster Bank's 283 branches across the Island of Ireland.
Mr Donnan says the Henri Hippo scheme means Ulster bank now has a range of money-saving and money-managing products for all age-groups from newborns to graduates.
