Ulster Bank 'Revs' up the Competition with 150 Cash Incentive for Current Account Switchers

2nd May 2007

Northern Ireland consumers will be at least 150 better off if they switch their current account to Ulster Bank during May. All current account customers who sign up to switch their account from another bank to Ulster Bank will have 150 deposited into their new account. And they could receive a free overdraft for three months to ease the switching process*. The bank has also introduced a dedicated team of twenty staff to do the hard work for the customers and be on hand to make it hassle-free.

This offer is designed specifically to encourage customers to closely examine the quality of service they receive from their existing bank and to help overcome the customer perception that switching is difficult.

Customers will simply be required to switch and redirect their salary to an Ulster Bank current account to receive the cash sum, with no minimum monthly lodgement requirements or other conditions. This offer follows Ulster Bank's ground-breaking move in November 2005 when it became the first bank in Northern Ireland to automatically offer transaction fee-free banking to all its current account customers - both new and existing.

Ulster Bank Head of Product Marketing, Rosin Ryan, says that the new dedicated switcher team of staff will make the experience simple and hassle-free for consumers.

"We are the first bank in Northern Ireland to introduce such an initiative across all of our current accounts and the first to offer a 150 cash incentive," she says.

"Customers will be switching to the Number 1 bank in Northern Ireland, a team with a strong reputation for responding to customer needs. At Ulster Bank we offer all our customers both new and existing transaction fee free banking and the opportunity of a free no obligation one-to-one session with one of our Customer Advisers to discuss individual financial priorities. We're delighted to be able to bring this innovation to consumers in Northern Ireland and to encourage customers to vote with their feet and switch"

"Ulster Bank is committed to Northern Ireland, that's why unlike our competitors we're investing in our 91 local branches, not closing them. We're committed to providing excellent customer service and product innovation and endeavoring to make the switch to Ulster Bank easy, by offering an interest free overdraft* and a dedicated customer service team," Ms Ryan continues.
