Lost your bank card on a night out? Can't get cash for a taxi home?
Ulster Bank's innovative new emergency cash service can help
15th Dec 2007
An innovative new service has been launched to help customers stranded without access to cash. Just in time for the full swing of the Christmas party season, Ulster Bank today launches its new service to provide emergency funds to customers who have had their debit card lost or stolen. The Emergency Cash service the first offered by a bank in Northern Ireland - provides a simple and cardless method of accessing funds in an emergency from any Ulster Bank ATM.
The process requires customers to phone the Lost and Stolen helpdesk on 0870 6000 459, follow a number of simple steps and answer a number of security questions before they are provided with a unique PIN.
Customers can then use the PIN to withdraw funds of up to 60 from any Ulster Bank ATM in Northern Ireland. They have a time limit of 3 hours to obtain their emergency cash after which their code will expire. Ulster Bank strongly advises that customers memorise the PIN immediately and under no circumstances write it down.
The service will be free of charge until Friday January 11, after which there will be a fixed fee of 5.
Roisin Ryan, Ulster Bank Head of Product Marketing in Northern Ireland, says: "We are continually exploring ways to adapt and expand our products to meet the needs of customers. Being stranded without a debit card is extremely frustrating and Emergency Cash is a simple, convenient and extremely secure way to help our customers overcome the problem. Hopefully it will help provide peace of mind and a way out of a difficult situation for some customers over the Christmas period."
